🔎 AT A GLANCE

Good day, Fresh Fam.

In today’s issue here is what we are serving up on today’s menu:

  • What I built out

  • How it was done

  • One freebie

  • What’s up next

💭 MUSING

First issue of many more on the horizon.

For this week I was plagued with the best sickness a builder could have, procrastination.

There was an endless cycle of “wow I’m wasting time”, “I feel bad about wasting time”, “There is someone dying in Manchester right now to leptospirosis so I can’t feel bad”, “Now I feel bad about feeling bad” and hence forth.

It wasn’t pretty (at least on the inside).

Safe to say I’m over that.

Forever thankful to the strong friend group I’ve built over the years.

Now into the main review…

🍖 What was done this week

FRONTEND

  • Typography

    • Crimson Text Regular → Headings

    • Recia Regular → Paragraphs

  • Logo

    • Made a generic one on LogoFast from Marc Lou

  • Color

    • White → Main

    • Black → Secondary

    • Yellow → Highlights / Assets

    • Variations of grey

  • Personality

    • This one is interesting, I’ve been very interested in a fictional novel called, Mage Tank by Cornman

    • His writing style has been the most down-to-earth and funny style I’ve read ever.

    • The use of sarcasm, tone, flow of how each character interacts feels unnaturally real.

    • So, I’ve decided to try copy his writing style by using Kimi or MiniMax M2 and creating marketing content around of it. If you have a prompt which can steal a writing style, I’d love to see how it has been working for you.

    • Another brand I love is porkbun and I’ll be integrating them into the voice of “Fresh Fashion”

BACKEND

  • I’ve hit a good stride - I am able to search for brands (over 500+) in my database

    • I’m also able to search for each of those brands websites

TESTING

  • Got my testing game on point - added Jest for the frontend with full Next.js integration

  • Created 2 test suites for analytics (initialization + event tracking actually works)

  • Backend testing expanded with 4 additional analytics tests (now 6 tests total and they're all passing)

  • Mocked all the external stuff so tests run fast and don't hit real APIs

ANALYTICS

  • Integrated a proper analytics platform across both backend and frontend

  • Everything now tracks itself - API calls, brand searches, website lookups

  • Page views happen automatically on all route changes

  • Errors get caught and logged for all the different error types

  • Added configurable logging so I can see what's actually happening

  • Dashboard ready for when people actually start using this thing

🗺️ ROADMAP

What’s up next?

  • Creating the landing page and routing everyone this newsletter for weekly product updates.

  • I’ve come to notice that not all of brands contain products which I’m able to make money off, which means I’d have to filter out those.

  • Finding products

    • This will honestly push my skills as a developer to the upper limits because of how many moving parts it will have at its conclusion.

🎁 FREEBIE

Enjoy a free treat.

Below is my prompt for how to setup a similar structured repo like mine

I’ve built quite a number of projects now for my local university in the research field of AI.

Would love to bring that to you guys.

Here are the steps to follow:

  • Type into the search bar on screen: Claude Code Setup For Project Fresh Fashion

    • you will be presented with a behemoth of a prompt

    • copy the details and fling it into any new project you decide to start with my tech stack

Thanks for reading.

See you next week.

Cheers,

Jon 💛
